On March 5th, at 6:30 pm, the III Solicitor Days were held in the ISVOUGA Auditorium, with the theme of “Equality” as its theme.
Under the moderation of the Coordinator of this Degree, Prof. Doctor Letícia Marques Costa, the event was attended by several national and international speakers (via Skype).
Equality as a constitutional value, addressed by Prof. Dr. Susana Lamas, Associate Professor at ISVOUGA and Lawyer, was the starting point of the Conferences. Next, Prof. Dr. Bruna Duarte Oliveira, Assistant Professor at Cândido Mendes University (Brazil) and Lawyer, explained the principle of protection as a principle of International Labor Law. Professor Lígia Abreu, Associate Professor at Universidade Lusófona do Porto, presented ECtHR jurisprudential cases regarding equality. The Full Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Prof. Doctor César García Novoa debated the principle of tax equality. Finally, Dr. Joana Barata Lopes, Former Deputy, addressed the principle of equality within Social Security.
An attentive audience, made up mostly of Solicitors Students, listened to different perspectives around a relevant and current topic, highlighting the need for ISVOUGA to continue investigating and reflecting on pressing issues.
